Outdoor weddings are very popular.   The Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department offers several sites throughout the park system that are ideal for these very special occasions.

Some of the most popular sites are:

• Lincoln Park Wedding Plaza (100 plus people)
• Lincoln Park Band Shell (up to 400 people)
• Lincoln Park Gazebo (50-100 people)
• Hauberg Civic Center Rhododendron Garden (75-100 people)
• Hauberg Civic Center Tulip Foundation (50 people)
• Sunset Park Overlook (50 people)
• Longview Park Flower Garden (50-75 people)
• Longview Park Conservatory (15-20 people)

The most popular dates are between June and October, when flowers and landscape beds are in full bloom.  Reservations must be made after April first of the wedding year.   No reservations may be made before that time.

There are a few rules that must be followed for weddings in the Rock Island park system:

1. No alcohol allowed - This is enforced at all park locations except for the Highland Springs park shelter. Weddings at Highland Springs will be contracted through the golf course.
2. All guests must leave by 10:00 P.M. - This is the time all Rock Island parks close.
3. All music requires a permit - Whether it is a boom box or an orchestra, a permit from the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department is required. There is no fee for this permit but it must be applied for at least one month in advance.
   The only exception to this rule is the Lincoln Park Band Shell. No permit is required for this space but a fee of $50 is charged to activate the electricity.

The Rock Island Park Board meets only once per month.   With this in mind, all permit applications or requests for special arrangements should be taken care of as soon as possible.   To make reservations, contact the Park Office at 732-PARK.
